Orangeries by Solar Innovations™
Developed as status symbols in the late 1600s, orangeries are intended to provide a protected place and tropical growing environment to nurture oranges during cold winter months or in cooler climates. Lime, lemon, mango, and pineapple plants can also be grown in this environment. Orangeries tend to follow a more classic architectural form including large, open windows, grids or simulated divided lites, and classic glazing options.
In past years orangeries were heated by coal stoves, but as a modern day twist to a European classic, heating and watering units are available from Solar Innovations™ to create the tropical environment expected within an orangery with little concern for daily maintenance. Solar Innovations provides a thermally enhanced growing environment which minimizes energy use and maximizes efficiency.

Although orangeries were developed as tropical growing environments, many orangeries today have become a part of functional living space and incorporate all of the household amenities. Orangeries have become sanctuaries for dining, family entertainment, or personal relaxation, and utilize furniture and accessories carried forward from the design of the main structure. For a functional environment, any of Solar Innovations™ custom doors, windows, ventilation, or accessory options can be incorporated into the living space.
Solar’s unique combination of structural design and accessories provide a unique “green” advantage to our customers. We are able to provide a more consistent, thermally enhanced orangery environment which minimizes heating and cooling costs, as well as, long term maintenance for the overall structure.
