1500 ladybugs were released in Solar Innovations, Inc.’s three corporate greenhouses over the past week. Ladybugs are predatory insects and consume harmful pests such as aphids, mealybugs, and scale insects. Because ladybugs can easily reproduce in captivity, they can serve as an along term alternative to chemical insecticides. A single adult ladybug can consume up to 50 aphids each day and these natural alternatives to chemicals have no harmful side effects.
