Utilizing a Greenhouse for an Animal Sanctuary

An animal sanctuary is a space where animals are housed in an environment similar to their natural habitat. Animals in sanctuaries typically require a home due to injury or the loss of their natural habitat. Creating an animal sanctuary in your greenhouse will require proper planning but will be a rewarding experience.

One will want to research the natural habitat of the animal(s) living inside and make sure that the sanctuary will not be a host to natural enemies. Start to grow plants found in the animal’s natural habitat. After the plants have been given time to grow introduce one or two of the animals into the sanctuary. Give these animals a chance to acclimate to the environment and see if any adjustments need to be made to the plants, feed, or temperature before adding more animals.
