Case Study: 10-04-268 – STC Rated Folding Glass Walls

Challenge

When the owners of a New York penthouse were in need of high-performing folding glass walls for their sunroom, they turned to Solar Innovations® to design folding glass walls with high STC ratings to suit their needs. High acoustical ratings were a necessity, as the home is located on the waterfront of the East River, which can often be a noisy area. The homeowners wanted to create a living space with glass walls that could maximize their views and be fully opened to the exterior patio, without sacrificing privacy and silence when desired.

Solution

Solar Innovations®’ presented the homeowners with several folding wall options, all of which met their sound-transmission requirements. The SI3000 G2 Folding Glass Wall system was chosen specifically for this project. The system tested has a STC rating of 39 and an OITC rating of 32 . The finished project is a sunroom perfect for entertaining with a smooth transition to the exterior deck while still allowing the homeowners privacy
