Commercial Greenhouses

Commercial greenhouses are built tough to withstand the day-to-day use of floral shops, garden centers and other companies that require an optimal growing environment in any season. They are typically designed with thermally-enhanced framing and utilize insulated low-E glazing that assists in regulating temperatures and light transmission. Solar Innovations® can also provide all of the accessories needed to allow growers to maintain the perfect indoor environment, so their plants will thrive for years to come. Learn more

Residential Greenhouses

Residential greenhouses are custom-designed to tailor to the homeowner, from the casual grower who wants to propagate young plants to get a head start on the growing season, to the serious gardener who spends much of their time perfecting and tending to their plants’ growth. These structures can be designed to attach directly to the home in a lean-to or double-pitch configuration or stand alone on the property, totally separated from a structure. They can be built atop knee walls or directly to a concrete foundation. Learn more

Hobby Greenhouses

Hobby greenhouses are generally less than 100 square feet and are standalone units. Designed for the casual gardener, they can be equipped with benches, shelves and even a simple irrigation system. To increase air circulation, hobby greenhouses can incorporate venting windows and/or ridge and eave vents and include a terrace door that perfectly matches the framing, both in color and style. Educational Greenhouses

From kindergarten to college, greenhouses can be a valuable learning tool for educational facilities. These durable structures give students a hands-on learning experience from seeds to full-grown vegetation. In addition to designing the greenhouse itself, a Solar Innovations® Sales Designer can help educators navigate the myriad of choices when it comes to selecting the right greenhouse accessories to fit into the school’s horticultural curriculum. Learn more

Research Greenhouses

Research greenhouses are often designed with individual rooms for potting plants, storing and applying herbicides and pesticides, cold storage, composting and unhealthy plant isolation. Cold growing frames can be added to the exterior of the greenhouse as a perfect place for plants to adjust between the climate-controlled greenhouse environment to their permanent home in the soil. Solar Innovations® will work with the planners to ensure that all of their specifications are met in the design and construction of the greenhouse. Learn more

Institutional Greenhouses

Many institutions such as nursing homes, hospitals and rehabilitation facilities are now realizing the therapeutic benefits of gardening and are incorporating greenhouses into their new and existing facilities. Also, correctional facilities are utilizing greenhouses for training purposes so inmates can develop valuable employment skills to prepare them for their assimilation into society. Learn more

Specialty Greenhouses

Specialty greenhouses are typically designed to accommodate a specific plant species’ growing needs. They can be arranged in multiple zones and outfitted with heaters, foggers and other accessories to replicate their natural climate conditions. Plants that fall into this category are bonsai trees, orchids, palms, and other tropical plant varieties. An expert Solar Innovations® Sales Designer can assist in providing the proper accessories to achieve the atmosphere the grower desires. Learn more

Pit Greenhouses

Constructing a greenhouse partially below grade is an energy-efficient way to regulate temperature fluctuations by taking advantage of the Earth’s natural thermal properties. By utilizing the Earth’s constant temperature below the frost line (three to five feet below the surface — approximately 45-50 degrees), heating and cooling costs will be reduced. These structures can be attached to an existing building, built into a hillside or constructed with a sunken entryway, requiring steps for access. Learn more

Urban Greenhouses

Greenhouses are not typically thought of as an urban structure, but with the proper planning and layout, even city dwellers can experience the benefits of owning a greenhouse. These greenhouses are usually smaller than their rural counterparts and require a little more creativity to maintain the same functionality of rural greenhouses. These greenhouses are constructed of the same durable aluminum that will not rust, rot, warp and require constant maintenance to the finish. A Solar Innovations® Sales Designer can make building a greenhouses on a small footprint a worry-free experience that the owner will enjoy for many years to come. Learn more
