Greenhouse Hobbyists; now is the perfect time to pinch flower heads and pods to begin drying in your greenhouse. Pinch the flower from marigolds, cosmos, or any type flower you have or want seed from and lay to dry on a sheet of white paper. Allow the flowers with peddles, such as your marigolds, to dry and turn brown before gently pulling the flower head open. When the flower head is dried the peddles should be easy to pull, if they aren’t, allow flower head to dry longer. Flowers with pods will pop open on their own and their seeds will be tiny and dark (like black pepper flakes). Collect your seeds and place in a clean dry container, do not allow them to freeze, and save for the spring.
