Solar Innovations, Inc. recently contributed to a barn restoration. The structure was updated with a custom glazing solution that incorporated one of Solar‘s folding glass wall and fixed window combinations. The fixed window incorporated the folding glass wall system’s framing to create a consistent appearance across the entire project. The folding glass walls utilized a top-load, fold-in system for this bi-fold style application. (Bi-fold systems split in the middle and fold in each direction.) The project included six folding panels that stretched across a 16′ rough opening. The panels were each just over 9′ tall and 25″ wide. A surface mounted sill, finished with Solar’s standard Sandstone, was selected to complete the façade. All of the metal to metal silicone, framing, flashing, and 5/8” interior muntins were installed in Solar’s standard Sandstone as well. The entire project was outfitted with 1″ clear tempered insulated glass. The glass included a LoE 272 coating, as well an Argon filled stainless steel spacer for improved thermal performance.
