Case Study 14-12-192: Year-Round Pool Enclosure

Challenge

When these Pennsylvania residents wanted a way to enjoy their lap pool in a safe, sheltered environment, they turned to the design team at Solar Innovations® to help create the perfect solution. The users they wanted a glass enclosure that would enable them to utilize their pool in rain or shine and at any time of year, but would also withstand the interior moisture created by the pool. There was not a great deal of space for the pool enclosure, but the Solar design team worked closely with the residents to develop a design to meet the projects’ space requirements, without sacrificing usability and aesthetics.

Solution

Solar Innovations® designed a glass pool enclosure with two hip ends and a hip end cupola in a straight-eave, lean-to configuration, which includes a lap pool and additional interior entertaining space, while at the same time preserving the users’ valuable yard-space. The enclosure features a decorative roof lantern, and the structures walls are lined with water-resistant motorized eave vents to maximize air flow, and prevent moisture and condensation build-up within the glass enclosure. The exterior sunlight filters through the windows with LoE glass and creates a comfortable glass structure for all seasons.
