Solar Innovations® Architectural Glazing Systems, a custom manufacturer of sliding, folding, and stacking glass walls, doors, windows, and screens; conservatories; greenhouses; skylights; and curtain walls; now offers an innovative lockbox design that integrates into all swing door offerings.
Through dedication to user needs for a more cost-effective solution to the steel door industry’s lockbox, Solar Innovations® engineered a lockbox to be used with its thermally broken aluminum doors. Lockboxes create a frame around the door handle, providing a more traditional appearance on an aluminum thermally enhanced door. However, a lock box styled with sleek, minimal framing can not only complement traditional project, but it can also enhance contemporary design.
“Design should go further than the door. We wanted to create a door handle that was functional yet aesthetically pleasing,” said Solar Innovations® President and CEO, Greg Header. “The idea is to give the customer the traditional look they desire without forgoing security and performance.”
Offering superior security, the lockbox operates the same way as Solar Innovations® three-point locks, through the flipping of the handle up to set the throwbolts and then locking the key or thumbturn. The only difference is that the handle is offset onto the lockbox to meet customers design requirements.
The lockboxes are available on any swing door, including integrated swing doors within folding and stacking glass walls, as well as other operable systems. The lockbox can also be incorporated into pivot doors. Grids can be added to the doors to provide alternate styling.
Solar Innovations® lockboxes offer architects, glaziers, and builders an alternative to the costly and thermally less efficient steel door version.
