Solar Innovations Raises Over $3,700 for Pine Grove Couple After Summer Flooding

PINE GROVE, PA – Solar Innovations® Architectural Glazing Systems proudly raised over $3,700 during its 2018 second quarter Solar Cares campaign to assist in replacing a bridge for a neighboring Pine Grove couple.

After tremendous amounts of rain caused flooding in Pine Grove in June, Alycia Barr and her husband, Alan Patton, were stranded at their home on Geary Wolfe Road when floodwaters washed away their only bridge access to Route 645. While a temporary pulley system was installed to deliver groceries across the creek, the couple and their neighbors were stranded until a rail bridge was installed a few weeks after the flooding had subsided.

Alycia Barr’s daughter, Lydia, began a GoFundMe page in order to raise money for the costs of replacing the bridge on July 4, 2018. Prior to Solar’s contribution, the page had raised $1,855; with Solar’s donation of $3,721, the bridge repair fund was able to reach $5,576.

The Solar Cares campaign was created to dedicate extra time and effort into giving back to the surrounding communities. After seeing the struggle of one of its neighbors, the Solar team decided to step up and help out as much as possible. This quarter, money was raised by 78.5% of the office team members.

The Solar Cares campaign launched in October of 2015. In less than three years, Solar Cares has raised over $30,000 in monetary donations plus a variety of supplies such as toys, coats, non-perishable food items, pet supplies, and cleaning supplies, and continues to hold company-wide fundraisers every quarter.
